Read Genesis 9:12-17

I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. (Genesis 9:13 NIV)

Cars were everywhere. The traffic had come to a standstill, and I could not see the cause. I was so frustrated. I tapped a frantic rhythm on the steering wheel as the tension in my shoulders became more pronounced. That night was to be my first opportunity to meet with the teachers at my new church. I was well prepared with plenty of time to run one last errand - until the traffic came to a halt.

As I bowed my head against the steering wheel, I felt a strong urge to look to the distant sky. There was a beautiful rainbow - God's covenant. God's promise that all would be well.

The traffic jam did not disappear, but I relaxed. God's peace flooded my soul. As I sat in the traffic, I prayed for the meeting and each teacher. I rejoiced in the rainbow and the peace that only God can bring.

I made it - with time to spare. I had a smile in my heart and a story to tell. I was filled with the wonder of God's creation.

PRAYER: Lord God, may we always remember the wonder of your creation and the covenant of your rainbow. Amen.

God's peace surrounds each of us every day.

PRAYER FOCUS: All the people who feel the tension of the day.

God is always with us  if we just take the time to  look for Him.
